Allan Kalnitsky of Maplewood died on July 7 at his home at Winchester Gardens. A native of Newark, Kalnitsky lived in West Orange and Clifton before moving to Maplewood. He and his late wife, Sylvia, were partners in Kal's Duplicating and Secretarial Service, a Newark-based document copying business that well predated the computer era. Early in his career, Kalnitsky was the top salesperson at Charles, the Haberdasher, on Journal Square in Jersey City. He also served in the Army in the European Theater for the duration of World War II. From his time in the service, through his business career and into retirement, Kalnitsky had an infectious enthusiasm for movies and the theater.
