Charity Art Auction to Benefit Kohl Angelo

  • June 19, 2012

The good news is that Kohl Angelo's tumor has shrunk more than 60%.  Seven months after being diagnosed with  DIPG, a type of malignant brain tumor, the 12 year old soccer player and A student has spent 8 weeks at St. Jude Children's Research  Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and suffered through radiation, chemotherapy, and weeks of additional distress due to kidney stones.

Kohl is back in Maplewood, under the guidance of a biophysicist focused on beating DIPG through a program to strengthen his immune system.  Kohl has also begun a new   course of treatment at NYU Cancer Institute.

The bad news is that insurance is not covering most of the treatment necessary to conquer the remaining 40% of the tumor, and keep it from advancing.  The Angelo Family is grateful for all they have received from the community, but the cost of the illness has been staggering.  Remaining treatment may run into the tens of thousands of dollars.

To assist in raising funds for Kohl's medical needs, there will be a Kick It Kohl fundraiser and Charity Art Auction this Saturday at Geralyn's Art Studio at 103 Baker Street in Maplewood from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

All donations will benefit the Kohl Angelo Fund through the HK Foundation.  Donations are also being accepted at www.hkcommunityfund.org.

Love, support and prayers are also very welcome.
