Haitian Outreach Event for Families, Feb. 24
On Feb. 24, the Parenting Center invites families to a dinner and gathering to help families who continue to be affected by, or concerned about, the earthquake in Haiti. The event will be held at the Clinton School from 6pm-7:30pm.
The adult gathering will be led by South Orange resident Maudjah Henriquez Francis, a licensed counselor and Haitian-American who is fluent in French and Haitian Creole. The goal is to support parents, share experiences and concerns, and give parents tools to help children cope with this crisis.
Elementary and middle school students will participate in a group with high school ‘buddies’ under the guidance of school staff. The goal is to support the elementary and middle school students, and discuss any concerns. The students will also be treated to a magic show performed by Michael Healy, Assistant Principal of Columbia High School.
