Jefferson Students Honor Hispanic Heritage

  • June 11, 2009

Students at Jefferson Elementary School recently completed the third annual "Reading Fiesta," a month-long celebration during which they read more than 200 books in Spanish or about Spanish culture.

The project was coordinated by Spanish teacher Laurence Seltzer, who recommended books in the library and made more available on her website, www.senoraseltzer.com. At the end of the event, a special assembly was held featuring prizes for participating students and the debut of a short film in Spanish made by Ms. Seltzer and her fifth grade students.
