Loretta "Lori" Russo, who grew up in South Orange, died unexpectedly on July 25 at home in Belleville. Visitation will be held on Aug. 2 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm and on Aug. 3 from 9:30-10:30am at the Megaro Memorial Home, 503 Union Ave., Belleville (megaromemorialhome.com). Born in Orange, Russo grew up in South Orange, where she attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Grammar School and Columbia High School, graduating with the Class of 1975. She worked for ADP Corporation in Clifton and Roseland for eight years before following her passion for animal welfare to become a licensed veterinary technician. Russo had been a longtime volunteer work at several local animal shelters, and as a vet tech had a 25-year career working for veterinary practices and animal intensive care units throughout the state. Throughout her career, she continued as a volunteer in animal rescue, saving the lives of hundreds of cats and dogs over the years.
