Maplewood Karate, Celebrating Our One-Year Anniversary

It's been a year already since our first class at the Maplewood Civic house. The program has been a rewarding success for the instructor's, students and parents.

While time flies when you're having fun, lots of things happen, we have been to tournaments, performed demonstrations and have done many volunteer activities in the community.

Our modest school has about 50 students so far, half of them female, parents are training with their children, sibling training with one another, it has really turned out to be a family orientated school, not only because family's are training together, the atmosphere amongst all the students and parents is one of family and community.

Later this month we will have our first family picnic to celebrate. I'd like to personally thank George Rague the Director of Recreation & Cultural Affairs and Michelle Wesley, Programs Supervisor for their help in making this program possible.
