Tuscan Kindergarten student Kylie Keegan from Franklin Avenue was the first to see flames shooting through the roof of a home on Hilton Avenue while watching TV on Sunday night.

Kylie went to her parents and insisted they call 911 to report the fire.

On Friday, Tuscan School celebrated the little hero with a special kindergarten assembly to recognize her and to remind everyone of the importance of the phrase, "when you see something, say something."

Firefighters, family and friends as well as more than 100 kindergarteners and their teachers were on hand to congratulate her. The firefighters reminded the students to practice drills — "EDITH" or exit drills in the home — and to make sure the batteries in their smoke detectors at home were refreshed.

A banner stating, "Kylie ROARS," was made to honor the little hero. At Tuscan, all students are encouraged to R.O.A.R. — Respect Others, Act Responsibly — and Kylie did just that!
