Another Maplewoodian takes the big city by storm tonight as Pamela Greene's photography book, "Blood & Beauty, Manhattan's Meatpacking District, " (Schiffer Publishing) gets a book signing at Rizzoli Books, 31 W. 57th St, NYC, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Shot during the past nine years, "Blood & Beauty" charts the daily transformation of a gritty, industrial and sometimes notorious neighborhood into a site of gloss and glamour. In surreal photographs — many taken in deep night — "Blood & Beauty" ponders urban transformation and its impact on individuals.
