About Town: Spinning Your Wheels in Maplewood

Spinning classes at Bodies inMotion, plus six years celebrated at The Gym on Springfield

We're a fit bunch here in Maplewood.

When we aren't training for a marathon or triathalon — or just a local 5K — we're doing Zumba, working on our core with Pilates, healing mind and body with Yoga, Kickboxing our brains out, doing hot vinyasa, or just running the treadmill at our neighborhood gym.

That's why Bodies inMotion Studio is so well named.

Rolin San Juan, founder and owner of Bodies inMotion, is keeping up with fitness trends by adding a new spin to Maplewood fitness (sorry, we couldn't help ourselves!). Spinning classes have been thrown into the mix with the already-popular offerings of Nia, Gyrotonic, Pilates, Gyrokinesis, Niyolates and specialized strength and toning classes.

Spin classes are 45 minutes long, and cost $20 each or $150 for 10 tickets. As a bonus, the first class is free.

Here's the release from the lovely Julie Gordon, who is doing some publicity for Bodies inMotion:

Like the rest of Bodies inMotion’s classes, Spin engages both the body and the mind and is taught at the beautiful, airy and well-lit studio, created to be a special place to experience the things we need to lead a healthful, simple and peaceful life. At Bodies inMotion, you’ll experience Spin like you’ve never experienced it before — it’s not just a series of races and climbs; it’s an unconventional ride that incorporates upper body rhythmic moves, high-energy work, an ever-changing soundtrack of music and a safe and uplifting environment.

Bodies inMotion is located at 509 Valley St. 973-313-2201, bodies-inmotion.com

Meanwhile, that paragon of physical perfection, Tim Reynolds, is celebrating six years of operation over at The Gym on Springfield. Tim's personal training studio is an airy second floor space (above Shakti and HLS) where you can get a full body assessment, dietary assistance, a personalized workout program, and the professional support to get you to your goal. And, don't wory, Tim is one of the most down-to-earth Adonises we know — so you'll like him despite his hunky exterior.

The Gym on Springfield is located at Springfield Avenue at Yale Street. www.thegymonspringfield.com 973-986-2397
