Maplewood Declares Snow Emergency
Afternoon and evening events are getting cancelled as Town and County declare snow emergency.
The Township of Maplewood has followed Essex County's lead and declared a snow emergency. Said Township Administrator Joseph Manning, "That basically allows us to tow vehicles and apply for state aid to cover storm expenses should the state have funds to give out."
All after-school activities in the South Orange Maplewood School District were cancelled for today, Thursday, February 25, 2010. This included after-school enrichment programs. The district and the various PTAs will let us know later when make-up classes for enrichment programs will take place.
And at 11:42 a.m., Marilyn Lehren let us know that the South Orange Maplewood Adult School has cancelled all classes for tonight, including ESL and GED.
The Black History Month Gallery reception at Seth Boyden Elementary has been rescheduled due to snow and will now take place on March 3. The reception includes a Harlem Rennaissance dance presentation by the fifth grade students in all four classes.
Words Bookstore has postponed its events scheduled for tonight and tomorrow night: You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up: A Love Story by Annabelle Gurwitch and Jeff Kahn and A Special Mother: Getting Through the Early Days of a Child's Diagnosis of Learning Disabilities and Related Disorders by Anne Ford. The store will close this evening at 6 p.m. Saturday's events are still on, until further notice.
