What’s Happening Around Town This Weekend
From a Halloween Concert to antiques appraisals to a walk-a-thon, the coming weekend has it all. The Papermill Playhouse is presenting a sensory-friendly musical for those with developmental disabilities, Amazing Dave is magically entertaining the kiddies, and a basketball camp will raise funds for girls in Africa. The Rotary is hosting an antiques appraisal expo, and the Seton Hall Women’s Basketball team wants to meet you. Monkeyworks will perform a Halloween concert and Christ Church Short Hills is sponsoring a Walk-a-Thon. Sensory Friendly Presentation of “Let Freedom Ring”
The Pushcart Players will perform the musical “Let Freedom Ring” in a sensory-friendly environment. Designed specifically for children on the autism spectrum, or with other developmental disabilities the theater environment will be altered for this performance, providing a sensory-friendly, comfortable and judgment-free space that is welcoming for all families. At this unique presentation, theater lights will remain up, sound volume will be lowered and consistent and children will be free to talk and leave their seat under parental supervision. Monkeyworks: The Halloween Concert
For a truly twisted evening, come experience Monkeyworks with their unique sound and little shop of horrors! A series of film shorts will be shown, and scored live onstage. Suggested donation $5; Saturday at 8 p.m.; Maplewood
Christ Church Short Hills "Walk-a-Thon for Famine Relief"
Christ Church Short Hills is sponsoring a Walk-a-Thon to raise funds for Famine Relief in South Africa, beginning on the field behind the church. All proceeds will be donated to the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund, which sends aid to Anglican and Episcopal partners in Kenya, where they directly administer aid and support to those in need. A pledge of $5.00 per mile is recommended, all donations will be accepted; Saturday at 10 a.m.; Short Hills
Boys and girls ages 10 to 15 are invited to a basketball camp hosted by former Fordham basketball players and coaches Lara Hanson and Jon Giacobbe. All proceeds will benefit Hope For Girls Africa, a USA-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the increased participation and empowerment of disadvantaged young African women in sports and education. Tour de Torah Family Bike Ride
The Temple B’nai Abraham Men's Club is hosting a family bike ride on Crest Drive, a private paved road in the South Mountain reservation. The goal of this ride is to bring the congregational family together to do something fun and healthy and to raise funds to benefit restoration and refurbishment of the temple’s ritual collection.
