District to Introduce High School Restructuring Proposal Wednesday

Academic placement recommendations for the high school follow on a proposal for restructuring placements at the middle schools.

Following on the recent introduction of possible restructuring in the middle schools — including the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and accelerated de-leveling across grades — school district administration plan to unveil a plan for restructuring academic placements at the high school tonight.

South Orange-Maplewood School District staff will introduce proposed changes at the meeting which takes place at 7:30 p.m. at 525 Academy Street in Maplewood on Jan. 18.

Last week, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Osborne and middle school principals Jeff Truppo (Maplewood) and Joseph Uglialoro (South Orange) fielded questions from community members about the middle school proposals, after the Superintendent's annual State of the District address.
