Clinton School Cuts Ribbon On Bike Rack
Last month, thanks to the effort of their Student Government president Hannah Gibbons Clinton school students got the right to pedal and a place to put their bikes.
On Thursday, May 28, Clinton School held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for their brand new 5th grade bike rack. The bike rack purchase was the direct result of the Clinton School Student Government’s efforts, over the course of the last two school years, to change the district policy on riding bikes to school.
Previously, 5th graders were not legally allowed to ride and park their bikes at elementary school buildings. Thanks to the efforts of Hannah Gibbons (Clinton’s 2008-09 Student Government President) and Madison Byrne (this year’s President), petitions were signed, letters were read to the Board of Education, and supporters were rallied.
The district policy was officially changed in May.
