Cops: Men Steal Car While Owner Checks for Flat

Maplewood Police report SUV taken Sunday afternoon on Boyden Ave.

Two men allegedly stole a car Sunday afternoon after the car's owner had pulled over to check for a flat tire, said Lt. Dean Naddeo of the Maplewood Police Department.

The owner, a Maplewood resident, had stopped his Porsche Cayenne SUV on Boyden Avenue near Orchard Road at around 2 p.m. Sunday to check if his tire was flat, said Naddeo, who said the man got out of the car and left the keys in the ignition. While the man was out of the car, two men jumped in and drove off toward Irvington, said Naddeo.
