'Drowsy Chaperone' Rehearsal in Pictures

The show opens at CHS tonight!

The Columbia High School All School Musical — The Drowsy Chaperone — captured the 2006 Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Book (book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison). Tonight, it will capture your hearts, if these photos are any indication.

Conceived as a tribute to the Jazz Age musicals of the 1920s and '30s, the story is advanced by a narrator — “The Man in the Chair” — a fan of musical theatre, who talks about his favorite show. As he speaks the musical comes alive in his apartment and much madness ensues.

The cast of 14 primary characters is supported by an ensemble of over 30 talented performers as well as a pit choir of approximately 1o students, who lend vocal depth to the shows overall sound. The musical is directed by Robert Cohen.
