An East Orange businesswoman recently made the choice to move her salon to Maplewood, citing easier access to her client base.

Virginia Gillard formerly operated Larel Hair Studio in East Orange, but opened her new location at 1813 Springfield Avenue with a ribbon cutting ceremony this past Saturday. Gillard reported that her clients said that the trip to Maplewood is a welcome visit and an easier drive than the East Orange location.

Maplewood Mayor Victor De Luca and Deputy Mayor Kathleen Leventhal were on hand to cut the ribbon with the business owner and her family members. Afterwards, officials, friends, family and clients shared acelebration cake. Gillard’s granddaughter, Laila, modeled the ribbon stash.

Gillard is a 15-year veteran hair salon.
