The walls were filled to the brim with art.
All manner of artistic mediums!
And all manner of subject matter too!
And styles....
And what's an artist reception with out treats!

The 7th annual student art show at Geralyn's Art Studio in Maplewood took place Sunday at Geralyn's new location.

“It just amazing what they kids can do,” said Geralyn Robinson, owner of Gerlayn's Art Studio. This is the first show in the new studio space at 103 Baker Street. The show includes about 150 works from about as many students, ranging from ages 3-1/2 to 94.

“It's not just for kids. We have many workshops and classes for adults as well,” said Robinson.

Many proud parents and grandparents oooh'd and ahhh'd at all the art on the walls. Some took pictures of their little Picasso next to his or her work of art. One set of grandparents came all the way from Sydney, Australia to see the show. (Okay, they didn't come just for the show. They were already up for a visit.) The kids, while proud of their work, went right to the treats. There was a full spread for them with cake, brownies and chocolate-covered marshmallows.

Also in attendance was Mike Parker, a Maplewood-based children's book illustrator, who teaches a mixed-media drop-in class at Geralyn's on Saturdays.

“The best part about teaching kids is their no-holds-barred approach to art,” said Parker. “The stuff they come up with is brilliant. The raw creativity is amazing. Look at this work — even at this age, their personality shines through.”

Geralyn's Art Studio offers art classes for all ages and a summer art camp at their new location at 103 Baker Street, Maplewood.
