Getting Out the Vote at Clinton School
It's election day too for the Clinton Elementary School Student Government
There was a great deal of voting going on at Clinton Elementary School today.
In addition to voters from around the neighborhood coming in to cast their votes for candidates running for Township Committee, County Clerk, County Executive, and House of Representatives, Clinton School students were busy voting for the their own student government officers.
Clinton School has a very active student government facilitated by school social worker Lindy Rollo. It is comprised of 4th and 5th grade class representatives, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Vice President, and a President.
A few years back the Clinton School Student Government was responsible for changing a school district policy about riding bicycles to school. Thanks to their efforts, 5th graders across the district can now ride to school with a helmet, and with the permission of their parents and their building principal.
Today, the auditorium was full as candidates made their Election Day speeches and ballots were handed out for voting. The candidates were confident, passionate, and caring and their campaign platforms were equally impressive. Winners will be announced at the end of the school day.
