HIghlandPlace Goes 'All-Terrain' for a Rockin' Night on Wednesday
Lisa Rott and The All-Terrain Band will start playing around 9:00 p.m. at HighlandPlace on Wednesday night.
The meaning behind All-Terrain is “all over the place” Rock, blues, funk, standards, folk, country, gospel...pretty much everything but Jazz. From Janis Joplin to Patsy Cline."
So says Lisa Rott, "chic singer" and frontwoman of the All-Terrain Band. Lisa and her merry men will be bringing their all-terrain approach to music to HighlandPlace at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night for a pre-Thanksgiving feast of music.
Besides Rott, the band features:
- JOHN KORBA of Hall & Oates fame on keyboard and backup vocals.
- GEORGE NAHA – guitar. Naha has played with Pheobe Snow and other Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers.
- LEE FINKELSTEIN – MAPLEWOOD NATIVE! on drums, of Blues Brothers and Funk Filharmonik.
- MARK BERGER – keeping the pocket on the bass.
- JIM STAGNITTO – trumpet — hopefully coming into town all the was from New Hope!
Rott is an all-local girl, by the way. She's been a resident of Maplewood for 40-plus years (not that that looks possible), went to Clinton School, South Orange Middle and Columbia High School.
But Rott didn’t start singing in front of anyone until her days at Gettysburg College days. "I haven’t been able to stop since." For 25 year, Rott fronted a successful event band until she finally got "Macarena-ed out" two years ago.
Now it's all about the music she loves. "Getting to sing and just hang with the level of musicians that make-up the All-Terrain Band is like being in Madison Square Garden for me. These guys are as good as they get and the are the most humble and nicest people anyone could ever hope to call a friend."
