From the SOMSD:
An evening with Paul Tough, author of How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2012 Clinton Elementary School 27 Berkshire Road Maplewood, NJ 7:30 pm
In How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character, Paul Tough argues that the qualities that matter most have more to do with character: skills like perseverance, curiosity, conscientiousness, optimism, and self- control. He introduces us to researchers and educators who, for the first time, are using the tools of science to peel back the mysteries of character. Through their stories—and the stories of the children they are trying to help—Tough provides new insights regarding how best to steer an individual child or a whole generation of children toward a successful future.
