It's a Fun-Filled, Albeit Frigid, Friday 'About Town'
It's back to work after a day of shoveling. Wait?! THAT wasn't work enough? Here's stuff to soften the snow blow...
Yesterday's snow accumulations had many in town calling 'Uncle' (if their Uncle owned a powerful snow blower....) If not, it had many calling doctors for advice on shoveling-induced muscle spasms.
Ugh, what a storm in a string of storms. Almost makes you want to rent The Shining — if only for the comedic relief...
Speaking of relief, Shakti Yoga & Living Arts, Shakti Ma on Springfield Avenue is hosting what sounds like the perfect prescription for the ills that ail you: their Monthly Reiki Healing Circle.*
Madalina Blanton will be leading attendees in guided meditation, breathing exercises and mini reiki sessions. The event takes place tonight at 7:45 - 9:00 p.m. at 1861 Springfield Avenue. Cost: by donation. Reservations or questions: madalina@soultoearthhealing.com or (347) 526-4748
(*Reiki means "universal life energy" in Japanese. It's a form of therapy that uses no-touch, hands-on healing technique that is purported to reduce stress and induce relaxation. Reiki is also said to relieve pain, balance emotions, enhance focus and help with personal healing. )
Speaking of Springfield Avenue, I should also mention that Maplewood's favorite — and the tri-states area's BEST — fiber arts shop, Knitknack is in the midst of a seriously stellar sale in honor of their 5 year Anniversary. If you're an avid knitter — a novice yearning to learn — here's your chance to save BIG on bundles of gorgeous yarns!
Lastly — I am hoarse from begging for more entries on my snow bashing ballad. Right now I've got just two, and one will be walking away with a fine fermented grape juice. Why not throw your entry into the ring? Our winner will be announced this afternoon!
