New Video! Ladybug Infestation Hits Maplewood

The ladybugs descended Tuesday, October 20. They seem to have disperse by Wednesday.

Reports descended yesterday of ladybug swarms around town, in particular at Columbia High School. Watch the video that Elissa Malespina provided to South Orange Patch editor Cotton Delo.

Should the ladybugs revisit, don't worry. They're harmless. According to Jessica Damiano of newsday.com, the ladybugs swarm this time of year because it's cold outside and they are looking for shelter. Should they get in your house, the best thing to do is vacuum them up and put the bag outside.

We just got back from the Tuscan school playground. My girls enjoyed chasing and catching the swarms of ladybugs. I was amazed!
