Lights, Les Miz, Chinese and a Movie

There'll be a silent night or two this weekend, but here's stuff to do if you need to leave the house.

It's going to be a very quiet Christmas break in our area this weekend, with a to-be-expected pause in activities and events, as families and friends gather together to enjoy and celebrate the holiday and the season.

But once the Christmas gifts are unwrapped and you're feeling antsy to get out and about some, there are still some great things to do in our towns over the next few days.

For those who haven't yet visited the Essex County Holiday Lights Spectacular, this Sunday is a great chance to bring the whole gang to catch the wondrous and free display of light and color at Turtle Back Zoo before it's gone.

If theater is more your style, Les Miserables continues its run at the Paper Mill Playhouse in neighboring Millburn, with an afternoon matinee this Friday and two performances on Sunday.

For those sports fans out there who can't get enough b-ball in their lives, even during the holidays, the Seton Hall Men's basketball team, the SHU Pirates, won't disappoint when they play their Richmond rivals on Sunday afternoon at noon.

Finally, if Chinese and a movie make up your annual family tradition over Christmas, check out what's playing at Clearview 5 in South Orange at SOPAC or at the Maplewood Sixplex in the heart of the village, get your tickets in advance and grab some Chinese at at one of these neighborhood Chinese restaurants:

If you want some suggestions as to what may be good, read this informative thread on good Chinese food spots  in the South Orange Patch Q&A section.

Have a fantastic holiday weekend and catch you back here again next week!
