Maplewood Father Has Personal Stake in Obama Afghanistan Decision
Kirk Petersen talks about his son Harry, an E-3 Airman aboard the USS Nimitz in the Indian Ocean, and his hopes for decisive action in the war in Afghanistan.
Local writer Kirk Petersen made a plea in his blog today for decisive action by the Obama Administration in support of General Stanley McChrystal's request for troop support (McChrystal has requested 40,000 additional troops).
While Petersen says he has been frustrated to a certain extent by what some have described as "dithering" about Afghanistan on the President's part, Petersen says he holds out hope for the President's decision which will be announced in a prime time speech to the American public on Tuesday night.
Petersen has very personal reasons for voicing his opinion on the matter: His son Harry recently reported for active duty as an E-3 Airman aboard the USS Nimitz in the Indian Ocean. Read more from Petersen, here.
