Maplewood Middle Schooler Wins National Archery Championship
Madeleine Jaworski, and 8th grader at Maplewood Middle School, captured 1st place in Harrisonburg, VA.
Madeleine Jaworski, an 8th grader at Maplewood Middle School, won 1st place in the Indoor National Archery Championship (Eastern Region). The competition was held March 11-13, 2011 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.
Jaworski's score (970) places her 6th overall in the United States. She also competed in the Junior Olympic (JOAD) Indoor National Championships the same weekend, and won 2nd place.
Jaworski shoots an Olympic Recurve Bow and competes in the Female Cub division. She practices and trains with Mike Usherenko of New Jersey School of Archery JOAD in Florham Park and West Orange.
“We’re very lucky to have a Level 4 archery coach in the area,” says Madeleine’s father, William Jaworski. “He’s one of the elite coaches in the country, and his training has obviously given Madeleine a real edge.”
