Maplewood Hosts National Night Out

DeHart Park is site of August 7 event.

The is hosting the National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 7 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the at 120 Burnett Avenue.

Celebrated in over 15,000 communities nationwide, National Night Out brings together citizens, public safety agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials to bring awareness to crime prevention and public safety efforts. 

This free event, which is open to the public, will feature a karate demonstration, a wiffle ball home run derby, prizes and giveaways for both grown-ups and kids -- and pictures with Batman. Hot dogs, refreshments and Italian ice will also be available.

Can't attend the actual event? The Police Department suggests displaying outdoor lights and holding porch vigils.
