Maplewood and South Orange residents have an excellent opportunity to meet a new local leader on Thursday, Dec. 1 when the South Orange hosts Marcia Meehan, new Executive Director of the South Mountain YMCA in Maplewood. 

The meeting will be held from 12:15 PM to 1:30 PM for lunch at Giorgio’s, 52 Vose Avenue, South Orange.  

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Meehan is a long-time Y Director who has served in Pittsburgh; Greenville, South Carolina; Dayton, Ohio, and Baltimore, Md.  She is a graduate of Penn State University with a BS degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. 

When not working, you’ll find Meehan playing tennis, traveling, hiking or spending time with her dog, Sophie. She also enjoys volunteering and mission work with her church — most recently visiting Guatemala to help build a school for orphans. Meehan says she is excited to be in New Jersey and sharing her passion for the YMCA mission with staff, volunteers and families.
