Monday Night, Party 'Til You're Green

The Maplewood Green Team celebrates the Holidays and the culmination of the Maplewood Green Challenge with a party at DeHart from 7-9 p.m. on Dec. 12.

It's been a good year for the Maplewood Green Team.

For one thing, the team exceeded its goal to have more than 1,000 Maplewoodians sign up for the Maplewood Green Challenge. As of Dec. 6, Maplewood Deputy Mayor for the Environment Fred Profeta said that more than 1,100 residents had signed up to meet at least five environmental benchmarks (such as having a home energy audit, keeping the heat at 68º or below and the air conditioning at 74º and above, limiting driving, using energy-efficient lightbulbs and increasing recycling) — and there were still three days to go to join the challenge.

The Green Team is celebrating this accomplishment and others with the Green Team Holiday Party tonight at the DeHart Community Center from 7- 9 p.m. with pizzas from Arturo's Osteria and organic beer and wine. The winner of an iPad will be selected from among the 1,100-plus Green Challenge registrants.

The cost is $8 at the door (includes food and drinks).
