Mother and Son Hit by Car on Boyden Avenue
No serious injuries reported, driver not charged.
A 32-year-old Maplewood woman and her six-year-old son walking on Boyden Avenue and Parker Avenue were struck by a car on Wednesday evening, according to Maplewood Police Captain John Perna. Neither was seriously injured.
The pair were crossing Parker Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 28, said Perna, when a 63-year-old Maplewood man driving a 2004 Mercedes Benz traveling north on Boyden Avenue made a left turn onto Parker Avenue.
The man, who had a green traffic signal, reported that he never saw the mother and son (both of whom were wearing dark clothing) and drove into both of them while making the left turn, Perna said.
The mother and son were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital as a precaution; neither was found to have a serious or life threatening injury, according to police.
The man was not charged with a motor vehicle offense, said Perna.
