New Year's Party Results in Auto Theft

The following information was provided by the Maplewood Police Department.

 

Maplewood Police report that one local resident had a party guest help him- or herself to a car on New Year's Eve.

The Maplewood resident's 2003 Honda Insight disappeared after a New Year's Eve party at an Elmwood Avenue home. Apparently, someone had taken the keys from within the residence. Also stolen were two iPod Touch MP3 players and a Macbook laptop computer. The vehicle was eventually located on Jan. 3 by Irvington Police.

Other thefts on this week's police blotter, provided courtesy of Sgt. Dean Naddeo, include:

January 3, 2012: Theft from Vehicle. A Demarest resident reported the theft of several items from his vehicle which had been parked on Hudson Avenue on January 1 between the times of 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. The items reported missing included a Macbook Pro laptop computer valued at $1,800.

January 3, 2012: Theft from Vehicle. A Lancaster Avenue resident reported the theft of $10-$15 of change from his vehicle which had been parked between Dec. 29 and 30.
