Northjersey.com: State Gained Jobs in July

A loss of government jobs is offset by an increase in private sector positions. Unemployment rate still rose.

 

The Record reports that the state added 5,900 jobs last month and that  unemployment rose slightly to 9.3 percent, which is under the natonal average.

The New Jersey Department of labor and Workforce Development reported an increase of 13,000 private-sector jobs and a loss of 7,100 government jobs in a  monthly report.

The gain is the state’s first employment increase in 18 months.
