Police Arrest Four in Attempted Burglary

Three teenagers and one adult lead Maplewood Police on foot pursuit through Lightening Brook area.

Four people were arrested Friday night after trying to burglarize a home on Menzel Avenue, according to Maplewood Police.

The four – three teenage boys and a man – were caught after seven police officers pursued them on foot through the neighborhood. 

The incident occurred around 5 p.m., when a neighbor noticed suspicious activity at the house, whose residents were out at the time. The neighbor called police and gave them a description of the suspected burglars. 

Police officers were able to capture the four within a few blocks of the crime scene, near Jacoby Street.

The suspects were with burglary and theft.

Police released the three teenagers to a parent or guardian, while the man is being held in Essex County Jail.  Police are not releasing his name at this time.
