Profeta, Sustainable Jersey, Win Award

The environmentally-minded Deputy Mayor gets honored by the US Green Building Council of New Jersey

 

The New Jersey chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council announced that Maplewood Deputy Mayor Fred Profeta will receive an award for his work with the Sustainable New Jersey Project. The group, an initiative of the NJ State League of Municipalities, is receiving a “Green Leadership Award” in the category of Innovation of Service.

Sustainable Jersey is a certification and incentive program for New Jersey municipalities looking to employ sustainable practices. It "went live" in February 2009.

The award will be presented at a reception on May 21.

The NJ State League of Municipalities Sustainable New Jersey Project: Mayor’s Committee for a Green Future (William Dressel, Executive Director, Deputy Mayor Fred Profeta, Maplewood, and Mayor Meryl Frank, Highland Park)
 
The NJ Meadowlands Commission: Green Policy Award: Recognition for work with “green” and sustainability policy development. Recipients: Robert Ceberio, Executive Director, Joseph V. Doria, Commissioner DCA, Chair Meadowlands Commission, and Deborah Lawler, Chief Planner, Meadowlands Commission
 
Jersey City: Community/Municipal Award: Recognition of Recipient: Mayor Jerramiah Healy and his Team for their work in creating a sustainable footprint for their municipality and its transformation from highly toxic to state of the art “Green”.
 
PSE&G: Corporate Commitment Award for Major Corporation: Recipients: Ralph Izzo CEO and Ralph LaRossa COO
 
Spiezle Architectural Group Corporate Commitment by Small Business: Recipient: Jason Kliwinski AIA LEED AP and Scott Spiezle AIA LEED AP
 
Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Hopewell Campus: LEED® Project Award Recognition for LEED® Certified Project in NJ for transformation of existing building. Recipient: Bob Krukowski Director Americas Property Management Services

Student Award: (Competition in Progress) Inspires or teaches others about sustainable practices. Demonstrates strategies that help lessen the impact of Global Warming and Climate Change through innovative student designed projects or events

Governor Corzine will be receiving an award for his Lifetime Achievement for Environmental and Sustainability policy during his tenure as Senator and as Governor.  Deirdre Imus, wife of radio host Don Imus, is the event’s special guest speaker as well.
