PSEG Expects All Power Restored to Maplewood by Friday

Ttere are still areas and individual streets without power, as the Nor'easter settles in. However, PSE&G's latest projections show ALL Maplewood customers restored by the weekend.

While repair crews from many states line the streets, and most schoolchildren are back in class, some Maplewoodians are still in the dark, in more ways than one.

In addition, there is a Nor'Easter, winter storm Athena, hitting our area.

Ten days after Sandy struck the area, PSE&G reports some 840 residences in Maplewood remain without power, or just 8.8% of customers. However, the company's numbers do not jibe with what is on their latest workplan, which can be found here.

According to that, 620 residents will be restored today, Wednesday, 413 on Thursday and 248 on Friday. (Those numbers add up to 1,281, not 840).

Still, according to PSE&G there are no Maplewood customers expected to remain without power after Friday.

Neighborhoods still in the dark include near Clinton School, Parker Avenue, Essex Avenue, Park Road, Warren, Oakview and some others.

In its most recent news release, from Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m., PSE&G reports that statewide, power has been restored to about 89 percent of customers affected by the hurricane.

PSE&G says it will continue to restore customers throughout today's storm; however, crews in bucket trucks cannot work in winds over 40 miles per hour.

Also, the release read, workers may need to take lines out of service "temporarily for safety reasons." It also noted that crews are working 16-hour days, with mandated rest periods and meal breaks.

Susie - I have been calling daily. Yesterday they said the ticket for the downed wires was marked completed and closed so I corrected them. Today I called and they said they had no record of EVER receiving a call reporting the outage and downed wires, not even the call from yesterday. They had to open a new ticket so I think we're back to the bottom of the list again. Beyond upset, angry, and frustrated with PSEG management. Big thank you to the very nice crews working long hours, though.

We have a leaning pole with a street light and solar panel ready to fall on corner of Maplewood Ave. and Mountain Ave. This needs to be fixed very dark . People use the path to next street .Why couldn't PSE&G fix this when they were dealing with down power lines on street?
