Update: Video of Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony
A somber march from Maplewood Village to Morrow Memorial Methodist Church
It was a somber procession Sunday evening as residents of Maplewood and South Orange marched from Maplewood Village to Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church in remembrance of the 11 million victims who died in the Holocaust during World War II.
Maplewood Mayor Victor de Luca, Rabbi Jehiel Orenstein and Bo Meyerson, leader at the Ethical Culture Society, were among those marching.
At the church, they were joined by others for speakers, musical performances, and the lighting of the Chai candles. Eleven candles were lit, representing the eleven million victims, by survivors of the concentration camps, family members or those who liberated the death camps.
