No need to leave town to finish off (or start) your holiday shopping. This weekend, local retailers are offering special sales and events, many of which will benefit charities — or at least the local economy.

What’s Special? Rotary Club of Maplewood is selling fresh Christmas Trees and wreaths to benefit local causes.

Secret Shoppe at Prospect Presbyterian Church
Where: Prospect Presbyterian Church, 646 Prospect St, Maplewood
When: Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
What’s Special? Bring children, ages pre-school to grade 5,  to shop "in secret" for holiday gifts. Shoppers will be assisted by teenaged and adult "elves" in their selections and free gift wrapping is included with each purchase. Sponsored by the Prospect Presbyterian Women, the sale will feature new gift items ranging in price from $2.00 - $9.00 and provides an excellent opportunity for children of all faiths to shop for family, teachers, and friends. All proceeds from the children's Secret Shoppe will be donated to charity.

Fabulous Finds Boutique Holiday Sale
Where: New Eyes for The Needy, 549 Millburn Ave, Short Hills
When: Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
What’s Special? Gift-givers looking for one-of-a-kind presents can to stop in and take advantage of the great pricing on unique jewelry and giftware. The boutique is stocked with fine and costume jewelry, crystal, silver,watches and giftware thanks to the generous donations of people from all over the country. Proceeds benefit New Eyes for the Needy, which provides eyeglasses for the needy.

Buy Art Now Guys VI @ 1978 Arts Center
Where: 1978 Springfield Ave, Maplewood
When: Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What’s Special? The 6th Annual Buy Art Now Guys! (BANG VI) is an exhibition featuring small scale original artwork by over 40 local and regional artists. The artwork will include paintings, photographs, sculptures, prints, ceramics, jewelry, notecards, drawings and more.  All artwork for this exhibit is affordably priced for giving and for collecting. Many of the artists will be present during the exhibit to meet the public and answer questions about their artwork. 20% of all sales from BANG VI will go to 1978 Maplewood Arts Center to support the exhibits and community projects presented by the arts center throughout the year.
