Some Score Points After Season and Tuscan Sparkles With Hard Work
A season wrapping means an opportunity to give, leaves fallen are foiled as volunteers make a big difference About Town
As the final games on the season's schedule wrapped this weekend, there's still a final winning play awaiting those indestructible jerseys: Jerseys from Jersey is again collecting MSO Kickers/Cougar soccer/South Mountain Soccer jerseys. Jerseys from Jersey collects used, washed soccer uniforms and works with organizations to distribute them to children in Bangladesh, China, and Nepal.
For the next two weeks, you can drop your jerseys at Kari's Café on Springfield Avenue/Prospect Street in Maplewood. (You'll want to experience her delicious coffee and scrumptious sweet treats while you're there!)
For those in the Clinton School neighborhood, there is also a collection bin inside the front door of the school.
What a great way to make use of some barely used clothing!
Tuscan families make a beautiful difference.
Tuscan über-parent, Mary Meddahi, sent word of a very terrific turnout for Tuscan Elementary volunteer landscaping and clean-up brigade this past weekend:
"We had a great turnout...25 people! So we got the grounds looking really good. We trimmed the hedge out front, re-mulched our path to the playground, picked up three bags of trash around the grounds and found four articles for the lost and found. We also weeded and put to bed the gardens around the portables, weeded and turned over the peace patch, raked out beds, and blew the playground clean. Basically we accomplished our "to do" list in about 5 hours and we had a ton of fun on a beautiful day making new friends. Thanks to all listed here for their participation:
Gina and Mike D'Eletto, Haifa Nouaime, Jim Losuto, Judy Nunn, Aliyah Baruchin, Donald Harding, Hannah Harding, Lisa Schnorr, Ciel Ben-Adi, Wendy Charlap Ben-Adi, Niv Ben-Adi, Shira Houghton, Melissa Matthews, Al-Raheem Steed, Jamal Coursey Samad Steed, Miajay Steed, Jill Hammarberg, Shaine Hammarberg and Gillian Thieroff and of course my family Karim, Lili and Julia Meddahi. A special thanks to the Hardings for the donuts the kids enjoyed them after their hard work!"
Thanks to these folks - and all those About Town who graciously donate their time and talents to all our schools - for going above and beyond to make sure our schools are above and beyond.
