Teach Your Middle-Schooler About Money

Or better yet — have the HK Community Fund teach your children about money. It's affordable and less painful!

Parents! The HK Community Fund — that fabulous local organization that offers enrichment and volunteer opportunities for local tweens and teens — is offering a Financial Literacy workshop series starting next Thursday, Feb. 23 for middle school-age children.

These workshops are a great opportunity for your child to learn the importance of money. Classes will cover the basics of money — companies, stocks and investing, and learning how to save early and often.

We all struggle with how to teach our children about these concepts. This is a great opportunity to reinforce the conversations you are having with your kids at home — and remove the parent-child baggage from the discussion! Think of it as a great gift to give your child — and yourself.

Learning these important life skills early on can provide a life-long gift of security and wisdom.

The three workshops are (see attached flier for more details):

  • What's Your Money Sense? Feb. 23, 3:30-4:45 p.m.
  • Stock Market Smarts, March 1, 3:30-4:45 p.m.
  • The Secret to Becoming a Millionaire: Using Your Money Math Skills, March 8, 3:30-4:45 p.m.

Classes take place at the HK Foundations Center at 515 Valley Street, Suite 130, Maplewood. Call Amy Jo Curran at 973-762-4062 for more information or to register. The cost is $12 dollars a class or $30 for the series.
