Tenth Muse Promotes American Craft Week
Local artists will be on display at the local crafts gallery, starting with Maplewood's Village Fall Open Market October 2.
The Tenth Muse Gallery in downtown Maplewood is participating in the American Craft Week Celebration, to be held nationwide from October 1-10.
American Craft Week promotes and showcases handmade American crafts and the people who make them in venues across the country. The event is a project of the Craft Artists and Retailers for Tomorrow and Craft in America.
"This celebration is held in recognition of the countless ways handmade objects enrich our daily lives and contribute to our national aesthetic and economy," notes Tenth Muse Gallery owner, Mary Ann Spencer.
On Saturday, October 2, from noon to 5:00 p.m., the gallery will launch American Craft Week by showcasing premiere artists from the New Jersey Metal Arts Guild (NJMAG) during the Maplewood Village Fall Open Market. NJMAG members include sculptors, metalsmiths, jewelry artists, students, teachers and professionals as well devotees of the metal arts.
Several NJMAG artists will be on hand to meet and greet shoppers during the event, including Thea Clark, Amy Roper Lyons, Gayle Mahoney, Jill Baker Gower and Jennifer Jordan Park.
"This is a fabulous opportunity to talk to these artists about their creative process and to learn more about particular pieces that interest you," added Spencer.
