The Spirit of the Season Glides Gracefully into Town

Swan Lake gets a glorious tribute at Perch

I walked into yesterday to interview owner for this week's and I was struck utterly speechless by the overwhelming beauty of the store's holiday display.

Words cannot do justice to the in-person impact that the delicate and whimsical tribute to Swan Lake delivers. They say a picture says a thousand words, but they'd all fall short.  I can only say that as I stood before it the holiday spirit started tingling through my veins and washed over me wave of nostalgic awe.

When I was little my mother used to take us into the city so we could stand before the holiday windows of Saks 5th Avenue in wide-eyed wonder.  I felt that feeling yesterday. Sure, I'll take my kids to NYC this year, too, but first I'll take them to Perch so they can experience the real McCoy.

Treat yourself to a visual vacation by popping into Perch today. It took Michele four days to create glittering display with the help of her father and some very good friends. I thank all of them.

I'm also grateful to live in a town with such wonderfully creative and inspired retailers and look forward to seeing all the seasonal windows as they pop up across town in all of Maplewood's shops. (Village Belle?! Little One and Co.?! C'mon- we can't wait!)
