Three Arrested In Maplewood Assault, Robbery
The investigation into the early-morning assault is ongoing.
Police have arrested three men and are looking for a fourth after a man was hit in the head and robbed while walking down South Ridgewood Road.
The names of the men arrested have not been released yet, and it is not known if they were in Maplewood or county lockup.
On Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. a man, whose was also not identified, was walking down Ridgewood Road when he was hit in the head and robbed. He was taken by the South Orange Rescue Squad to the hospital with minor head injuries. After being under observation for a few hours, he was released. It is still unclear as to whether or not he was hit with a weapon.
The injured man told police he knew his attackers and was able to identify them. Police said they used his information to make the arrests sometime Tuesday. Detective Lt. Michael Marucci said some of the stolen items were recovered. The investigation is ongoing.

Some of it is in South Orange... and some is in Maplewood. "south" of South Orange Ave...

Search Google Maps for "SOUTH Ridgewood Rd, Maplewood", you will get NO results.
Search for "Ridgewood Rd" in Maplewood, (no "South"), you'll get a map -- of Maplewood.
Look at a map of both towns, and zoom in on the border between them at "Ridgewood". It's clearly marked Ridgewood ROAD in Maplewood, and SOUTH Ridgewood Rd in S.O. It CHANGES into "SOUTH Ridgewood Rd" at the South Orange border, just as "Walton ROAD" in Maplewood changes to "Walton AVE" at the S.O. border.
If Patch confirms the cross street on "SOUTH Ridgewood Rd" this incident took place, this will be solved. The author told me the incident took place in an area where "kids hang out". Patch also ran an article re: young adults being arrested behind Jefferson School for pot possession. If that's the "hangout", the road signs at Jefferson very clearly say "Ridgewood RD", not "SOUTH Ridgewood Rd."
SOUTH Ridgewood Rd. is clearly in South Orange, south of S. O. Ave. Cross S.O. Ave heading north, the name of the road changes AGAIN to "North Ridgewood Rd".
I'm about to move to the neighborhood at Walton AVE and SOUTH Ridgewood Rd. in S.O. I'd like to be clear as to whether this incident took place in Maplewood, as the headline indicates, or on SOUTH Ridgewood Rd. in S.O.
