Last Chance: Help Bring 'Kite Runner' Author to Words Bookstore

Words is one of five finalists in national contest to win visit from Khaled Hosseini. Vote by end of day Wednesday.

Maplewood's Words Bookstore is one of five finalists in a nationwide window display competition to win a visit by Khaled Hosseini, acclaimed author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.

Voting is open to the public; information on how to vote is at the end of this article.

The store was selected by Penguin Publishers in New York City as one of the top five bookstores in the country for their window display featuring Hosseini's works. The display, a full store window of mountain themed drawings and a sculptural installation, was designed by Words artist in residence, Meghan Keane. (A photo of the display is attached).

"We are very excited about this honor," said owner Jonah Zimiles. "Having Meghan, a painter and printmaker when not working for Words, custom design and install our window displays -- as well as hand paint the wall logo in our recently renovated event space -- has been an investment on our part to offer a high quality bookstore experience to our community and patrons."

If Words wins the guest appearance by Hosseini, he would share his forthcoming third novel, And The Mountains Echoed.
