Train Station 'Coffee Lady' and Concierge Company Reach a Deal

Art Christensen, manager of the Maplewood Concierge Company, emailed Patch this morning to announce that the concierge company and Joyce Reynolds of Heavenly Scent Café have "reached an agreement to provide enhanced 'hotel-style' concierge services to the traveling public at the Maplewood Rail Station."

The concierge company and the cafe had been embroiled in a legal dispute regarding the status of the cafe's lease for the past year or more. On March 20, 2009, Christensen had issued an eviction notice to the cafe. In July 2009, a judge had ruled in favor of Reynolds but Christensen appealed. In January, it appeared that the chancery court had ruled in favor of Reynolds as Christensen cleared out the former concierge service space, as reported by maplewoodian.com.

Now, Christensen and Reynolds have finally worked out the details of their new relationship.

According to Christensen, their agreement provides that Heavenly Scent Café will continue to operate at the Maplewood Train Station through December 31, 2012. The notices he posted read as follows:

Heavenly Scent Café will continue to provide food items counter service to the traveling public in the mornings from 5:30 a.m. through 9:45 a.m., and in addition will provide Hotel-Style Concierge Services to the traveling public in the mornings from 5:30 a.m. through 9:45 a.m. as well as in the afternoons from 4:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additionally, the Maplewood Concierge Company will provide additional services to the traveling public throughout the day that will allow the Maplewood Concierge Service and local merchants to conveniently deliver a more expansive array of their products and services to the traveling public. The parties believe that these expanded services will result in the Maplewood Train Station having the very best Hotel-Style Concierge Services at any train station in New Jersey.

Concierge Services Now Available Through Heavenly Scent Café

Hotel-Style Concierge Services are now available at Heavenly Scent Cafe during the hours of 5:30 a.m. through 9:45 a.m. and the hours of 4:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. All concierge services are offered Free of charge to registered commuters and are being provided as a community service from our participating local merchants.
