Two Burglaries in Township on Same Day

Thieves make off with televisions and a purse.

Two homes were burglarized in the township on the same day in late September, police say. In both cases, the police know how the suspects gained entry, but arrests have not yet been made.  The two incidents do not appear to be related.

On Friday, Sept. 23, a Nelson Place resident told police that their home had been broken into during daylight hours. The victim told police that the burglar entered the home by pushing in an air conditioner at the rear of the building. Two television sets, a 32-inch Sylvania flat screen and a 50-inch Vizio flat screen, were taken from the residence. Police say witnesses reported a U-Haul truck with New York registration was in the area at the time of the theft.

That evening, a Hillcrest Road residence was reportedly burglarized sometime between 10 p.m. and 1 p.m. The suspect reportedly entered the home by cutting through a screen on the first floor while the occupants slept on the second floor. A purse and a briefcase were reportedly stolen.
