As of 9 p.m., PSE&G's power outage map reported that between 5,000 and 10,000 customers in Maplewood were without power.
Given that there are just over 8,000 households in the township, that is a pretty widespread power outage.
The reports came in fast and furious on Maplewood Patch's Facebook Page. No power on Elmwood Avenue, Oakland, Plymouth, Courter, Oakview, Madison, Tuscan. No power on DeHart, Sunset, Evergreen, Colonial.
Maplewood Avenue and Walton Road were out. Prospect, Sommer, and Harvard are out. "Big boom on Prospect and Harvard about an hour ago," wrote Dale Levin shortly before 9 p.m.
Garfield and Coolidge: out of power. Franklin, Amherst, Wellesley. Burr Road, out.
From TC member Kathy Leventhal just after 9 p.m.: "Burroughs Way closed - 3 huge trees in a row hit their homes." The family was safely evacuated.
So are Summit Ave and Richmond Rd, Hemlock Court, Boyden Ave., Concord.
This Maplewood Patch's editor has no power either and is about to run out of battery on laptop - so until tomorrow morning, keep posting updates on our Facebook Page.
Stay safe, everyone!

Waste Management was supposed to pick up garbage in Maplewood on Friday. All of my neighbors on Meadowbrook road cleaned out our refrigerators and left our garbage cans on the curb. Waste Management never showed up. We need you to publish this in the Patch because we are all very frustrated.
