Video: TC Candidates Introduce Themselves and their Platforms at Debate

This first candidates debate was sponsored by the Hilton Neighborhood Association

On Thursday, October 15, 2009, the four candidates for Township Committee squared off at the DeHart Community Center in a forum sponsored by the Hilton Neighborhood Association.

Republicans Bart Albini and Bob Perez are running against a ticket of incumbent Democratics, Kathy Leventhal and Jerry Ryan.

In this video clip the four candidates introduce themselves to the community, giving some information on their background and their approach to governance. Jerry Ryan (D) talks of "making responsible choices to keep costs under control while offering quality services. Bob Perez (R) warns that "the status quo of taxing and spending and borrowing has got to reach a conclusion or negative things are going to happen." Kathy Leventhal (D) speaks of her love of the community and her skills in "studying each side of a a question." Finally, Bart Albini (R) talks of escalating property taxes as a trend that will not change unless Maplewood's government structure is changed.
