The Gratitude Graffiti Project, launched last fall by Maplewood residents Lucila McElroy and Candice Davenport, was an interactive, public effort to encourage residents to express their gratitude each and every day.

For forty days, patrons of local businesses and community spots wrote or drew messages expressing what they were grateful for. Before long, store windows throughout town were covered with colorful messages. Both branches of the the Maplewood Public Library had a Gratitude Wall.

Now, there is a video put together by the organizers, who are hoping the project will be replicated in other towns -- locally and across the country. (The video is attached to this article).

"We are inching closer to 700 views from word of mouth alone," said McElroy.

She continued, "Our hope this year is that we have other towns simultaneously run the project and spread gratitude. From coast to coast is our dream...we are now starting to look for a volunteer 'gratitude' army."
