What the Dickens! Some Jingle Bells
They may sound more Andrews Sisters than Victorian carolers, but who cares?
What better day to reprise this performance by a band of carolers in period costume from Dicken's London?
The group performed in front of the Maplewood Theater on Dec. 5, 2009. Historically and stylistically, there are a number of problems here. The carolers' sound is a little more Big Band than Victorian England. And the song actually has its roots in Massachusetts (not England!) where it was first published in 1857 by James Lord Pierpont. But what the Dickens! It can still get the crowd dancing after 154 years!
