Ok, people, now is not the time to panic! We've got a handle on what's going on around town with snow-induced closings and delays and we'll be updating it all day as information comes in. In the meantime, grab some cocoa and read on.

Closings and delays due to the Snowstorm of January 12:

• Per Township Administrator Joseph Manning, all non-public safety Maplewood offices (that excludes Police, Police Dispatch, Fire & Public Works) will have a one-hour delayed opening Wednesday. Those offices will open at 10 a.m.
• Maplewood Township jitney service is running today.
• Per Gov. Christie (yes, he called), state offices will have a two-hour opening delay.
• All branches and Child Care Facilities of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges — including the South Mountain YMCA — will not open until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12.
• Due to inclement weather, the South Orange-Maplewood School District will be closed on Wednesday, January 12, 2011.  Please check http://southorangemaplewood.org for notification regarding evening activities — such as Superintendent Brian Osborne's annual State of the District address.
• Public Works Director Eric Burbank anounced that new town recycling vendor Great Northern has rescheduled Wednesday, January 12 curbside recycling collection for Thursday, January 13. Thursday's schedule remains the same at this point.
• No word yet on garbage collection for Wednesday.
• Meanwhile, NJ Transit has initiated systemwide ticket cross-honoring for all day Wednesday. Customers can use their tickets for alternate travel modes — rail, bus or light rail — but check the website for delays.
• Hundred of flights have been canceled at Newark Liberty International Airport. Check for flight delays before leaving for the airport.
• Driving conditions are slowed on highways throughout the region. Check for the latest highway conditions before heading out — if you must head out!
  
• Morning class at Maplewood Karate has been canceled. No word yet on 4:30 p.m. class or evening classes.
