Winchester Gardens retirement community- Maplewood

During the entire week following Hurricane Sandy Winchester Gardens like much of Maplewood and South Orange was without power.  Except for their nursing home population their residents were without heat, light, hot water, or hot meals from the dining room.  Hallways and stairwells were pitch black.  Despite this they are not issuing even a partial credit to residents on their costly monthly maitainence fee.  Who knew a week of cold, darkness, and sandwhiches was so costly...

Disgraceful. WG administration should lose their jobs and residents should refuse to pay their bills.

I wonder if residents are afraid to speak out...

Some few residents have their own cars. They were not told that they could get hot meals and spend a few warm hours in Maplewood Village where the stores and restaurants were open with full power.

This type of elder abuse is deplorable; thanks Jono for making our community aware.
